Sad news of Ian Carmichael's death

The news that the news of Ian Carmichael's death. What I didn't realise was that he his home was in Grosmont, near to Whitby.

According to the news reports his wife is receiving large numbers of condolence cards and e-mails. Pauline and myself actually had the pleasure of meeting Ian briefly, when we were working as background artists on the programme The Royal about four years ago. One day we were in the old St Luke's Hospital in Bradford, where a lot of the programme was shot with its authentic 60s interior. One day on-site a number of fans approached Ian for an autograph, he was very charming and made jokes about his dapper appearance as an English gent. I said to him he looked very smart and mentioned one of my favourite films with Terry Thomas, School for Scandals. Ian replied believe it or not this suit I actually wore in the film School for scoundrels and it still fits! We proceeded to show me the tailors badge inside the pocket. He will be sadly missed as an English gentleman actor.
